This was an ok book but like some other reviewers I wasn't to found of the going back and forth between the charters and not sure who I was reading about next. This is a cliffhanger which I don't think anyonementioned or I didn't catch in the reviews...I really would like to know that ahead of time. I'm not sure how realistic the storyline is but it hooked me enough to read, however if u don't like explicit, rough sex you may not enjoy this book. I'm curious to the outcome but I prolly won't buy the next book at least not right away!

Now she is trying to get lost. The blurb drew me to this book. I couldn't resist. To say this was a dark read, I believe it will get a lot darker. The way these two came together was unique. Once they had a taste of each other, it was smoking. Wow! As the story unravels you will find out what Mercy's secret is. Let me be honest, from the first chapter I could already predict the rest of the story. That doesn't take the fact way that Royal Blood is still pretty good.
Cliffhanger! What really set me off was when I got to the end, it wasn't the end. Like so many, in order to know how it ends you have to buy the next book, and for me the story just wan't good enough to want to do that. No romance and lots of violence.
Amity Cross is a brilliant writer, storyteller and has mad skills of creativity! I come back time and again, satisfied and pleased after every read. She writes kick-ass leading ladies like Mercy. Mercy doesn't take smack from anyone but tells them where to stick it effortlessly. Royal Blood is dark, erotic in the best way and has a brooding sexy man with a motorcycle and vintage muscle car. Nothing typical about X aka Xavier, except perhaps the ways Mercy excites him.
If you like dark romance, erotica, motorcycle club romance, contemporary romance with edge, then Royal Blood is a great book for you. It's entertaining and left me satisfied without pain of a cliffhanger to the very end. Brilliant introduction for the series.
I liked the premise, and the price was right for an author I'd never read before, added with the length. I don't consider a "book" that are on by many of these self published authors who are describing their work as a book with a page count under or around 200 pages. Yeah...that's not a book, that's a novella. I don't spend $5+ dollars on that, regardless of how well written. A 200 pg novella in an anthology, for more $$, completely different story.
Now that I got that off my chest...I read book 2, skipped book 3, read book 4 & stopped there. I needed a break. I might get to book 5, but truthfully I'm satisfied with where the characters ended up after book 4, and the reason I skipped book 3 (I don't think this gives anything away, it's in the description) the author took more of an interest in two side characters than I did, gave them an entire book, when I think she added them in just fine in 2 and 4. I didn't feel lost in book 4 for not having read 3, let's put it that way.
I got the unexpected with this book. More so because I was looking for an erotica novel, than because the story went in a lot of unexpected directions. I'm absolutely not apposed to a good story and a little dark thrown in the mix when I buy something with the main intent of erotica in mind. But with this series I got a little steamy sex, and a good story that continued to progress through the series, and some very interesting, complex characters that the author did a very good job of showing the evolution of their change, or maybe metamorphosis is a better description in how they treated each other, how they felt, acted, saw the world. You know...basically some of that fundamental change to who we are as a person that very few people ever attain. And in this series, that change is questioned as whether for the good or bad, it happened, and more than once, to each of them.
I liked this story, it was raw ans well thought out. The characters were human with all their meanness and horror. But it was a damn cliffhanger, and if I'd known that in the beginning, I would have given it a pass.
Amity did an amazing job with this new series. It is darker then any of her other books but she knocked it out of the park. It was so brilliantly written that it's so easy to get lost in the pages and not want to put it down. It's not your typical motorcycle gang book. It mostly focuses on X who is the Royal Bloods hit man. They broke and trained him and he is feared. Then we have Mercy who came to a bar for a job, it's owned and run by Royal Blood. She meets X there, where she has an attitude to help keep unwanted advances away. She is just trying to lay low. No one knows her story or asks, just the way she likes. You can feel the connection between X and Mercy, but with his new assignment he should be out looking, but he is more interested in having her once, then moving on. There are a lot of dark and serious themes in this book. If you can handle or like this type of book it is a must read!!! Amity took her writing to a new level and this book needs to be read and given the recognition it deserves!! It kicks ass and #LickAHitman
